BANGALORE INTERNATIONAL HIGH

ICSE

INTRO

The ICSE curriculum is aimed to help students understand and gain a complete learning experience, not limiting to one’s school or institution. At BIA, the ICSE syllabus is more focused on imparting knowledge through more comprehensive project and application based learning. The ICSE board syllabus gets updated and evolved on a timely basis due to extensive innovative research and analysis. And this is what makes ICSE education more relevant, exciting and challenging.

Her interest took her to enrol into Counselling Diploma under the leadership of Ajit Buoyancee. This helped her widen her thinking arena, thus persuading her into solving and helping the students with a different perspective and to give them a helping shoulder and a patient ear just what they always needed.

When she started her career as a lecturer for Logic and Sociology in 1997, she was inclined towards counselling the students with respect to peer pressure, positive challenge and study skills and strategies.

Noted for her Leadership and efficient management ability she is always appreciated for appropriate and exact delegation of responsibilities to staffs. Today she finds a huge success in empowering and inspiring the teaching staff, for she strongly believed that as educators, we touch the future each day we work with children.

She has attended the ‘Head Lamp’- Head’s leadership and management programme, an initiative training programme, certified by Teacher’s Foundation and Times Foundation, which is considered a very useful tool for the heads, to focus on critical functions and skills of the school, with its main focus on principled leadership, principled communication, leading learning, people and process and inside-out marketing.

She works for ESOL [English for speakers of other languages] and is a certified oral examiner for various English speaking examinations like YLE[S], YLE[M], PET and KET of University of Cambridge, U.K

Ms. Nalini Narayan
MA, M.Ed., Trained Counsellor

Principal
Bangalore International High (ICSE)

looking for holistic and all-round development. We believe that every child is bestowed with inimitable capabilities, talent and immense potential which needs to be nurtured and tapped. At the dawn of the new millennium, as the nation is on its way to emerge as a dominant power in the comity of nations, our future generations need to don the mantle of leadership in all spheres. The children of today will carry the pillars of our nation tomorrow and steer it to its rightful place in the world stage. Therefore while academic excellence is the ‘raisond’etre ’ of the school, it is also imperative to ensure that our children are groomed to attain their full potential so that when they leave the portals of the school they have blossomed into confident young adults ready to make a mark in the outside world. To achieve this great mission, the school follows a child –centered curriculum based on the ICSE pattern supplement with co-curricular and extra- curricular programmes.

From kindergarten till he steps out, the student is ably guided on his/her journey of discovery, exploration, enquiry and experimentation. All children are equipped with life skills which will in turn foster a sense of self esteem and self belief that will enable them to stride ahead with conviction in their own abilities. The school provides a caring and a child-friendly learning environment where a thirst for knowledge is to be quenched by our highly qualified faculty.

Excellence in every sphere is the hallmark of our institution. Be it in the class room, playfields, or extra-curricular activities our children do excel. In addition the significance of moral values and empathy for the under privileged is given equal importance. The school with its quality infrastructure, ethos and vision has already made a mark and carved niche as one of the leading educational institutions. Upgradation of facilities is a continuous process and is a top priority with the Management. It is our earnest endeavor to upgrade the school future to world class standards.

CURRICULUM

Bangalore International High (BIH) follows the belief that education is not limited to academics and book knowledge, however, it is the overall development of the students to help them contribute and ensure that they are valuable members of society. BIH remains strongly focused on developing and supporting various scholastic curriculums that play a role in the academic future of our students. We opted to provide students with the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) academic curriculum as we are aware of the immense potential that this syllabus contains for students who would have aspirations to encounter bright prospects with regards to their educational future. At the outset, the ICSE syllabus is comprehensive and introduces our students to a multitude of subjects. In addition to students learning from textbooks and in the classroom, the ICSE curriculum focuses attention on students learning through practical exposure. Pure science is better in the laboratory and economics is better understood with group projects. This is the holistic learning environment provided at BIH to students pursuing the ICSE curriculum. Another point that has to be emphasized is the fact that the ICSE curriculum is focused on English as a learning medium. This promotes the understanding and utility of English as a written as well as a spoken language, which helps students in targeting competitive English examinations which qualify them to attend universities in countries where English is a native language. The widespread recognition of the ICSE curriculum across education institutions in India and across the globe, underlines the global acceptance as well as the advantage for our students who study at BIH. The feather in the hat with respect to the ICSE curriculum at BIH is the fact that there are multiple subjects for students to choose from, which encourages a total dedication to the subject that students are comfortable with and helps them perform well in terms of internal assessments, projects and annual examinations. Hence, the well-structured ICSE curriculum, combined with expert facilitators from BIH enables our students to become confident, productive and informed citizens, dedicated to helping our society grow from strength to strength.

FACILITATORS

Teachers are the facilitators in BIH & Shining Stars who impart sound and value based education to the students. Faculty forms the edifice on which the foundation of the institution rests.

They are the guiding stars who are selected after undergoing a stringent selection process wherein besides their qualification their potential to become good teachers is carefully assessed.

To attract the best talent the management offers an attractive remuneration package. However the sense of dedication and commitment of the teachers of BIH & Shining Stars goes far beyond. While other schools bask in the achievements of their bright students, in BIH & Shining Stars we are proud that the teachers painstakingly endeavor to carry each student including the not so bright ones along.

“Great teachers empathize with children, respect them and believe that each one has something special that can be built upon.”
